I am very pleased to be leading the Safety, Health and Environment team at European Goldfields during such a pivotal time for the Company. Safety, Health and the Environment is integrated in to everything we do and at every stage of our projects from exploration to closure. It is highly motivating to work with the SHE specialists in Greece and Romania and by encouraging a culture of openness and regular communication we are working to develop the Company’s SHE strategy. My main objectives are the planning and implementation of a group wide SHE management system, an auditing process to ensure the system is working, and SHE improvement plans to promote continuous improvement throughout all levels of the business from group-wide initiatives to project specific goals.
We understand that the safety of our people is of utmost importance and the Company works toward realizing our goal of zero harm. We believe that all accidents are preventable and we make it a priority to get everyone involved in identifying areas for potential improvement and actively work on these areas.
Furthermore, it is important not only for us as a company to adhere to best practice but to ensure that our supply chain works on the same principles that we uphold. As a result we are assessing contractors to all our Group Companies and support them to work to the same high standards that we operate by.
