Social Responsibility

As part of our program of strong community engagement, we continually strive to make meaningful contributions to our local communities.

Certej Community Liaison

The Company supports cultural and religious groups in Certej, Deva and the wider community including sponsorship of youth groups and assisting in the repair of local churches.

We have provided financial support to smaller businesses that were affected by the closure of the state run operations and have engaged these businesses in our developing operations such as building access roads, improvement of tracks and the establishment of water monitoring systems.

The Company also helps those members of the community who are less fortunate.  Through the sponsorship of a day care centre, children with disabilities are able to receive the care, food and special tutoring they require.  Deva Gold employees have also dedicated 2% of the income tax they pay to a family whose children suffer with severe medical problems. The Company has also assisted the local authority in a technical capacity with a program to provide Certej village with an expanded and improved potable water system.

As we move toward the construction phase of our project, we are committed to working with the community through our community development plan.  We can develop our business and address the needs of our hosts very positively.  For example we will optimize proposed road layouts to benefit all and we will offer any construction materials deemed as waste to the locals for reuse or recycling.

Infrastructure & Construction 

We have worked to improve the local road network in the region with a special focus on more inaccessible areas which suffer in winter months.  By improving this infrastructure, elder members of the community are secure in the knowledge that their access to community facilities is considerably easier.
